April 15- 18, 2016,
Weather: Spring, 17-22 C.
Hotel: The Mosser.
pros: very good location, very accessible to cable car, bus and train stations, and to shopping and dining areas. room is carpeted, reasonable size. bed is good.
cons: we couldn’t find the heater, and no complimentary water.
Estimate cost for 2 pax excluding airfare: 1000 usd
Day 1: Commute via cable car and buses (by the guide of googlemap)
>Lombard – the world’s most crooked street. we took a cable car from Powell St. and then walked uphill. comfortable shoes got handy.
>Palace of Fine Arts. picturesque.
>Japanese tea garden. zen ambience but a bit crowded.
We then went near Yosemite national park to stay overnight so there’s more time in the next day to explore the park. It’s about 3 hours drive from SFO. (Luckily, we have friends who have car and who’ll also go to Yosemite.)
Day 2: Yosemite National Park – a world heritage site known for granite cliffs, waterfalls, streams, sequoias, glaciers and valleys.
Day 3: the Iconic Golden Gate Bridge (we took a bus from the hotel to Fort point, then a friend drove us to Battery Spencer)
from Fort Point. with the view of the bay around it, cold breeze & low flying seagulls, it’s truly a sight to see 🙂
from Battery Spencer. It’s cold and a bit tiring to walk uphill but worth it because this provides panoramic view with the downtown as the background.
